Surprise Nugget!!

Hello new baby! Here is how your story begins… your dad and I, were getting ready to start fertility to try for another baby. We met with Dr. Acacio and started metformin and Provera. All the blood work came back negative for pregnancy, so we were ready to get started. A month later I wasn’t feeling to good, kind of nauseas but I thought it was from stress because Rick Glasco had just passed away. I called the nurse to see if there was any chance I could be pregnant and she said “No, not at all” but to go ahead and take a over the counter test just to rule it out. It turned BLUE immediately!! I was definitely for sure pregnant. I was immediately terrified and upset bc the Provera stated on the bottle “Do not take if pregnant”, “may cause birth defects”. I starting crying because I was scared, happy, and in shock all at the same time. Your dad was lying on the bed and Clara was asleep in her room. I called nurse Sylvia at 11 o’clock at night. She said not to panic because the dose of Provera that I took is perfectly safe and if anything it helped me sustain the pregnancy. So then your dad and I laid in bed daydreaming about you. I went the next day and did blood work and my levels were sky rocketed!! I was DEFINITELY pregnant. So we guessed I was about 2 to 3 weeks pregnant. We went in for an ultra sound expecting to just see the sack and maybe a rice grain but NOPE you were a big little baby with arm buds and leg buds. I was 9 weeks pregnant. Such a wonderful surprise! So my due date is still iffy but it seems as though you will be coming by c-section the beginning of April 2011!

Telling everyone…
I called Misty the next day because I was still scared about the medication and so I was upset and she was very reassuring and excited. Then Nicole came over that morning and I had to go do my blood work and I told her I was pregnant and had to go do blood work and asked if she could stay with Clara while I ran down there. She screamed and jumped up and down. I swore her to secrecy from everyone. So she was the first one to know. Then Aunt Judy called me to chat and I ended telling her and she was so excited as well. Well Thomas’ 21st birthday was coming up and his party was that Saturday. But I couldn’t wait to tell my mom. She watches Clara on Friday mornings for me while I work at the shop for Sharon. Daddy called Aunt Sharon the day after we found out and Alisa. Anyway Aunt Sharon suggested I give grandma flowers to tell her I was pregnant. I showed up after work with a pink carnation and a blue carnation. She didn’t get it at first because it was give your neighbor a rose day. Then she read the card that said surprise love baby McGee II. She was so shocked and started to cry and hug me. Then I swore her to secrecy from Papa bc I wanted to tell him on Saturday night. Grandma came with us to the ultra sound when we found out I was a lot further than we thought. That was super exciting!

Misty ordered Clara a shirt that said only child with a line through it and then it said Big Sister. For Tom’s bday everyone was there besides Grandma Virginia because she’s been sick with some stomach issues. We surprised Thomas with your shirt and it took everyone a minute to get it and then everyone started screaming and was all excited.

18 weeks
I’m almost 18 weeks and getting very excited for your arrival. I’m GIGANTIC with this pregnancy. We can find out at any time if you are a boy or a girl but we are going to wait until my big ultra sound on Nov. 30th. Grandma says boy, every one is saying it’s a boy except for Nicole. Your dad and I have no clue, he sometimes thinks you are a girl and I have a feeling a girl too but who knows. I was completely wrong with Clara.

Hi baby!! Well we had our ultra sound and you are healthy and perfect as a peach. Everything is going wonderful. We invited Papa, Aunt Sharon, and Aunt Misty to the ultra-sound. Misty is throwing me a Gender Reveal Party. So she gets to know before everyone else because she has to make blue or pink cupcakes. And Papa gets to come because he won’t be able to attend the party because the Road Dawgs are playing at Ethel’s that day. And he has to keep it a secret from grandma. He says it’s payback from when she didn’t tell him I was pregnant. And then Aunt Sharon of course gets to come and she will be out of town for the National Rodeo in Las Vegas with Uncle Jack.

So dad and I went in first so the tech could get a good fetal survey. Your heart, brain and all your anatomy was perfect. I told the tech we didn’t want to know your gender until everyone else could come in. She said if I couldn’t tell then we were good to go. Well it was quite obvious!! I saw that you were a boy almost immediately when she was measuring your femur. I looked at your dad and said oh my gosh it’s a boy!! Your dad was smiling from ear to ear. Dad and I were both thinking you were a girl just because that’s what we know and we already have everything so we just figured, girl. But to our surprise a BOY!! We are so overjoyed and excited to have a boy.

When everyone came in, they said well what is it and Misty goes “Oh my god another girl” and then Papa said, “the look on your face tells me it’s a boy”. And I just kept giggling and said it’s a boy!! Aunt Sharon is so excited. She said “It’s time to go shopping in Jimi’s room”. She’s going to give us a bunch of Jimi’s things to decorate the nursery. It will be a Volcom theme, surfer, snowboarding. I’m so excited. We have the perfect little family now!! Now it’s just fun to watch everyone guessing until Sunday what we are having! Dad and I are trying to decide on a name. So far we have Jackson James picked out. We’ve had it picked out forever after Grandpa Jack and cousin Jimi. We just have to make that final decision.

Gender Reveal Party
December 5, 2010

Misty threw us a gender reveal party. The theme was “What Could It Bee?” People had to come dressed in Team Pink or Team Blue and she made adorable Bee cake pops to match the theme. When they bit into the cake it was either pink or blue cake.

Team pink consisted of: Cody, Bobby, Thomas, Nico, Jeannie, and Mitchell.

Team blue consisted of: Tyler, Katy, Lucy, Carter, Eric, Misty, Grandma, Alicia, Crissy, Aedan, & Jenny. David & Lindsey came a little late but were team blue too.

Grandma even made a shirt that said “Team Blue”. She was positive you were a boy! When everyone bit into their cake pops, it was so exciting. Uncle Thomas came dressed in a pink snuggie looking completely ridiculous. Uncle Bobby went to goodwill and found a pink suit jacket and him and Cody has sprayed their hair hot pink. It was so funny! We all celebrated and hang out and ate some snacks and discussed our future son!

Name Drama
So your dad and I had some serious issues deciding on a name for you. We have had Jackson James picked out before we even had Clara. I love that name and so did your dad. But all off a sudden your dad decided he felt like you deserved a fresh start, clean slate for a name. So we began searching online, in books, in movies, tv, friends, etc. We did not agree at all. Then one night your dad found the name Caddock, and fell in love. I immediately vetoed it and told him absolutely not. It means “eager for war” and was so weird I just couldn’t accept it. Well he wouldn’t let it go for over a month and it slowly began to grow on me. So we decided Caddock James McGee. I was calling you Caddock and slowly announcing your name to friends and family with some hesitation. Most people had the same reaction, “what is it? How do you say it again? What does it mean? That’s weird! It reminds me of car parts or fish.” Then some people absolutely loved it and thought it was rad. So it was decided that’s your name and we started calling you Caddock everyday. Then your dad had to fill out some FMLA paperwork and wrote down the name Caddock and he called me freaking out that it’s weird and he hates the way it looked once he wrote it out and he just wasn’t “feeling it”. I actually was disturbed because I finally was okay with the name and you felt like a little Caddock to me. But then he said, “It’s Jackson James and that’s final” WOOHOO!! I was so happy because I have loved that name for YEARS! Jackson is super popular right now, #3 on in top 100 names. However, it’s very meaningful in our family and it was Grandpa Jack’s name. And James is after Jimi, and my Grandpa Spicket, and it’s Uncle Thomas’ middle name. So your name is very special and way cool. You are my little Jack!! All of the family rejoiced and was very happy to hear we changed your name, haha!! I can’t believe we almost named you Caddock, ahhh!! So happy you finally have a name and Jack is perfect for you.

Baby Shower
February 26, 2011

Aunt Misty once again threw me the most amazing baby shower. Grandma helped throw it too. Aunt Sharon bought a Caesar’s deli tray and Too Fat cookie trays. It’s been a very busy and crazy month thus far. Grandpa was in the hospital with MRSA, and then Uncle Mitchell had pneumonia, and then Grandma’s dog Moose killed her pet rooster, so I had Moose and was trying to find him a home, just lots of things going on all at once. A lot of people had called and cancelled and said they couldn’t come to the shower, because of sickness, appointments, all kinds of things. We didn’t think that many people would end up showing up. We were happily mistaken. Misty’s house was packed shoulder to shoulder of people that came to celebrate and welcome you into this world. It was so amazing.

Misty decorated the house in blue and green, surfer theme. She made the most amazing chocolate mousse cake ever with cute little surf boards made of fondant on it. The favors were cute little surf board cookies, with custom tea bags, and a tea cup. We played a couple of games: Guess Mommy’s Waist Size, Cartoon Theme Song, Old Wives Tales Boy or Girl Pregnancy game, and Gift Bingo. I had so many presents to open, it was overwhelming. I couldn’t believe all the amazing friends and family we have in our lives.

Guests: Katy Nichols, Lindsey Bunting, Gaye Bunting, Glenda James, Maribel Phelps, Grandma Terry, Grandma Sissy, Wendy Gonzales, Becky DeWitt, Kristen Mann, Chasity & Cleo Goodson, Jennifer Evans, Jenny Carrillo, Sandra Caudel, Andrea Von shriltz, Aunt LouAnn, Nikki Schorr, Alison Moreno, Alicia Fimbres, Erin Bliss, Nicole Fimbres, Laura Fuentes, Melissa Eaton, Christie Vasquez, Stephanie & Tarah Williams.

We got some many amazing things: diapers, wipes, TONS of clothes, lotions, homemade blankets, a homemade car seat cover, homemade nursing cover, & homemade burp cloths. Grandma & Papa bought us a ton of baby items and then my glider, which I will nurse you in. We have the most amazing people in our lives and are so grateful for every single one of them.

Mini-Shower
February 25, 2011
I “work” on Fridays at the shop for Aunt Sharon and it’s more of a get away for me than anything. I’ve had so much fun spending time with Aunt Sharon. Well I came to work this morning and there was a sign on the door that said, “Welcome Jack”. I was a little confused at first because it’s Uncle Jack’s office and I wasn’t sure if that was for him or what. When I walked in Aunt Sharon and Sharon Ashley flicked the lights and screamed “surprise” at me. Aunt Sharon had bought you a TON of clothes and had them hung all over the office and had all the presents she bought at JM’s for you. I started to cry of course, it was the sweetest thing ever! Then she had special ordered cupcakes with your name and Clara’s name on them. It was such a special day for me.

Nursery
March 6, 2011

The nursery is coming along. Your dad and cousin Matt painted it and now your dad needs to finish the Volcom mural and then we have to decorate. Uncle Jack & Aunt Sharon gave us a bunch of Jimi’s stuff to decorate with. We have his surf board, snow board, a framed Volcom poster, his skate board and helmet, comic books, model cars, just lots of things and his dresser which is incredibly special. I need to pick out material to make curtains, and the crib bedding. I also bought letters to spell out Jack and I need to decorate those.

You are scheduled for your birthday on April 4, 2011 at 12:30pm. I pray that you make it until then. You are the craziest baby ever!! You move soooooo much and kick me so hard. It feels like you are trying to claw your way out. I am WAY bigger with you than I was with your sister. I weigh less, but I’m bigger around. I hurt way more in my hips and back with you as well. By the night time I’m pretty much miserable and can barely walk, or lift my legs. I have major SI pain in my hips. But you are so worth every ache and pain. I can’t wait to see your face and kiss you and hold you. I’m so excited. It feels so unreal. Your dad is so jazzed to have his son! Clara is SUPER obsessed with you. She carries around your ultra-sound picture and lifts my shirt up to hug and point to “baby”. She is so in love with you already. I think she totally gets that the baby in the ultra sound picture is in my belly, because she will point from the picture to my belly and say “baby” over and over. She’s going to be the best most loving big sister ever!!

Your Birthday

We were scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 10:30am. Jeannie was there waiting for us when we arrived. Clara was with grandma & Papa; they were going to come later. When we got there Jeannie took us back to the “recovery” area to get me prepped. There was another mom in there that had just had her baby via c-section and I could hear the baby crying and my heart just raced at the thought of finally getting to hear you cry. I was minutes away from you finally being in my arms. Jeannie was awesome and made everything so easy and put us at ease. I was so terrified. I literally cried all the way to the hospital. I was scared of the thought of being awake during surgery. I definitely did not want to miss your birth but the thought of being awake horrified me. I can honestly say looking back on the whole thing, the iv hurt the worse, because Jeannie did the best job ever and put in up high on my forearm and it never budged! Dr. Lewis came in to say hi and go over everything quickly, he was so sweet and I thanked him for coming in on his day off to delivery you and he said, “Honey after all we’ve been through, I wasn’t about to miss this day”. I just don’t know what I will do when he retires!

Things began to get blurry from this point on, I know I got to see Clara and say goodbye to her, grandma, & Misty I think. Maybe everyone came back there but I can’t remember. As they wheeled me back, it was weird because the operating room was super tiny. I didn’t picture it like that at all. Daddy stayed in the front of the operating room and visited with Dr. Lewis while he washed up for surgery. I could see your dad talking as I was getting my spinal. All I remember was I was trembling so bad, and I wasn’t cold, it was my nerves. The anesthesiologist was so sweet and very calming. Jeannie stood with me while he put in my spinal block. Talk about a weird feeling. He said I would go numb within minutes but it was more like seconds. I felt this warm sensation in my back and butt and then I was dead weight. They asked if I could lift my legs to lie down and I couldn’t move at all. I felt like my legs weighed a million pounds. And the operating table is so small; I barely could fit on it. Then they began strapping me down. Dr. Lewis came in and taped up my fat roll. That was rather interesting. I couldn’t feel anything he was doing at all. Once I was all harnessed in, he began his magic. Dr. Tsai assisted in my delivery. Daddy came and sat by me, he had the most calm, serene look on his face. He took my picture & kissed my hand. We went into the operating room at 12:30, so by the time they did my spinal and everything was ready to go, you were born at exactly 12:57pm. I felt so relaxed that I could barely speak. It took immense effort to try and get words out. It seemed like an eternity for him to get you out, but once I was in recovery and the drugs had worn off I realized how FAST he got you out. The second they pulled you out, they suctioned you and then held you over the sheet for just a second. I remember saying, “He’s so tiny”. You were soooo itty bitty! I literally remember thinking or saying to Daddy, “I don’t think he was done growing, they need to put him back”. The nurses asked if daddy wanted to come see you and he asked me if that was okay. I said go go go! I remember hearing you cry for the longest time and just loving that sound. Then I just really wanted to fall asleep but I couldn’t. I was so out of it. I listened to Dr. Lewis & Dr. Tsai talk about different things but it’s blurry to me now. I could feel them pulling and tugging. At one point I felt kind of funny, like the wind was being knocked out of me and then they told me they had just put my uterus back inside, so that’s why I was feeling pressure. I also kept smelling burning flesh. Apparently they cartelize blood vessels. Then I heard them stapling me up. That was weird ha-ha. Then I was in the recovery room waiting for them to bring me you. I felt like I waited an eternity but it was only minutes. You weighed 7lbs 3oz, & were 19.5 inches long. Once they brought you to me, Jeannie stripped away my gown and got me skin to skin with you to start nursing. You nursed pretty well but you were so small. I just couldn’t get over how tiny you were. The pediatric nurses told your daddy they think you were only 38 weeks gestation because of the smoothness of your feet. We never really were positive of your due date, so you weren’t quite done cooking. But you were perfect. You kept making this gurgling sound, so they took you back to the nursery for observation.

You were absolutely beautiful. You looked a lot like Clara, yet so different, definitely a boy version of her. Your eyes were smaller than hers, and you had WAY more hair than she did. You had the McGee shape for sure, long torso, broad shoulders. Apparently during recovery I was a crazy woman talking up a storm, inviting people to come visit me in the hospital. I don’t remember any of it. Nicole came in and told me I look good, and I said I feel good; it was definitely the drugs talking. I didn’t feel my legs again until later that night. It took forever for my spinal to wear off.

Grandma & Papa brought your sister Clara in to meet you for the first time. She was very excited to see the “baby” finally. We had been preparing for months for you but she didn’t quite understand. Jeannie laid Clara on top of me so she could see you up close. She just pointed at you and held on to me and kept saying baby over and over. She was so excited about you. She had the cutest outfit on, that Aunt Cole made, and it said Jack’s Big Sis.

Jeannie hooked us up big time. I had a gigantic room in the delivery side versus the recovery side. The recovery rooms are super tiny and Jeannie said I would have better care if I stayed in the delivery side. She had the best nurses taking care of me while she wasn’t there. My nurses were Emmy & Fumni.

Nobody got to hold you all day except for me. I felt really bad because Daddy hadn’t even held you because you were either in the nursery for observation or with me trying to nurse. People in the waiting room were: Grandma & Papa, Grandma Virginia, Aunt Crissy, Aunt Misty, Aunt Cole, & Uncle Thomas. We had numerous visitors, Aunt Sharon came to see you but was terrified to hold you. Becky DeWitt brought you the most beautiful blue knitted blanket and we kept you wrapped up in that because I had the room freezing. I was sweating to death from the hormones and medications. Aunt Misty & Uncle Eric came to visit. Misty was the first person to hold you besides us. David & Lindsey came that night to meet you. Tyler & Katy came with their kids Lucy & Carter. I was still feeling pretty good that evening because my spinal was still working well. Uncle’s Bobby & Tom couldn’t come visit you because they had to rush down to L.A. to be with Cody in the hospital. Uncle Bud came by that evening by himself to meet you. He was a work when we had you and couldn’t wait to come see you after.  Grandma Terry & Steve came that evening to meet you. The next day, Papa was having dental work done in the same building as the hospital so he came by to see you, Aunt Crissy came back to see you and hold you. Erin & Jaiden came to visit too! Aunt Sharon came back to visit and finally held you. She couldn’t believe how tiny you were.

The first night was a little bit rough because I had some troubles latching you on, and then I was so hot & I caught the dreaded cold that Daddy & Clara had right before I had you. So I was coughing pretty hard, which was difficult with the staples. And the nurse told me to let you sleep with me to have that skin to skin and I was just so freaked out that I laid there wide awake all night, sweating ha-ha. Dr. Lewis came in to check on me the next morning and said everything looked good. Dr. Tsai checked on me later that afternoon. I had the BEST care I could ever ask for. I was starting to experience pain by the next morning. But it was still pretty tolerable. I was terrified to get up but I had to do it first thing that morning because they removed my catheter. The nurses put this thing called a binder on me. It was a giant Velcro band, that held in my guts. It was amazing. It made it so much easier for me to get around. I was able to sit in the chair and nurse you sitting up.

I'm out of the house by myself with Jackson, for his checkup! Feels so good to drive again!
I'm at the dr and every single baby is crying and thanks to this genius thing called a pacifier Jackson is peacefully relaxed in my arms, otherwise I'd be nursing him to calm him. This is AWESOME!!

Thank you to all my friends & family that were honest with me & told me Jack was yellow & still looked jaundice. The dr kept telling me he was fine so I took him back again and his blood work came back that his kidneys & liver are inflamed. That he's possibly dehydrated & not sure if it's jaundice or not.
May 6, 2011
Jack has gained 7oz in 3 days, he doesn't have the "normal" jaundice, its a long story and I will know more what's going on next week

July 19, 2011
So little scary tonight, jack cried for over an hour like his bones were broke, tears and all. I've never seen him like that. Nothing would calm him. I gave him this tummy soothing stuff and he finally cried himself to sleep. Whew that was rough, all while trying to cook dinner and with a naked 2 year begging to go pee every 3 minutes.

4 month check up
FB entry: Jack Jack weighs 15lbs 8oz (50th%), height 27.5 in (97th%), he had a rough visit but all is well. He starts food next week yippy!!
You had your 4 month check up a little late but all was good. Your foreskin on your wee wee had fused back together and Dr. Pardo had to fix it. I felt so bad for you. She had to rip it apart and you screamed so bad and were bleeding a little. And then your head measured really small only in the 5th percentile. It scared me because we were afraid your bones had fused together already but that wasn’t the case at all. So she had me do a recheck in one month and your head was perfect!

First Foods
I tried to feed you cereal but you gagged pretty bad and refused to open your mouth. You had it sealed so tight there was no way I could get the spoon in. So I just skipped cereal and jumped right into greenbeans. You LOVE them. At first you were kinda not so sure but now you chow them down. You open your mouth and stick out your tongue, so adorable. I have a baby food maker but it broke so I was waiting for the new one. In the mean time you we bought greenbeans by Gerber. And then I blended up a fresh banana with water and you chowed those too. You loved the bananas but then you couldn’t poop so I started you on prunes. And you had the most GINORMOUS explosion ever today October 7, 2011.
