We decided to make plans a couple of months ago for my upcoming birthday to go camping at the beach with some of our friends and their kids. At last minute they weren't able to come bc of work stuff so we were going to just cancel it and Misty talked me into just going anyway. We were already out some of the money bc you can't get all the money back, so why not give it a try?
I haven't been camping since before I had Clara so I've never done it with kids before. It was quite an experience needless to say. I won't be going camping until our last child is 3 or older. It was exhausting and so much work and we didn't even cook food or any of that stuff. We just ate out and hung out. If Misty & Eric had not been there to help me with Jack I would have probably just drove home haha!
Jackson did not sleep well at all, and I was up the entire night recovering the kids up every 20 minutes. It was freezing at night.
Misty was spinning the kids in the dark and finally she put on Mike's headlamp so she could see what she was doing. It was hilarious.
Poor Aunt Fishy was wore out by them and they wouldn't stop asking to spin!!
When we got there someone had left a soccer ball and boy was that a treat!! He chased that ball around forever and was kicking it. My future soccer player!!
Eric heard these words nonstop the whole weekend "Erwick play catch, Erwick play catch".
Grandma bought the kids suckers from Disneyland and they were a hit and Jack continued to throw his on the ground and then we would have to rinse it off over and over.
Then Clara began to collect dirty seagull feathers and was grossing Misty and Mike out haha! Apparently she had stashed them in her camping chair and when we got home Mike threw them away and cleaned off her chair. She went to get them out of the pocket and saw that they were gone and had a full blown meltdown bc her feathers were gone.
Misty and I decided to run to get the kids some food and they had been playing so hard and they knocked out. So when we got back to the camp, I just rolled down the windows and let them sleep. They got about a 30 minute nap.
Eric and Misty said they had packed juice so we didn't worry about bringing any. Well it wasn't juice is was straight up Kool-Aid packets. They had never had it before. Jack would literally hold it up to his mouth and not take it out until it was completely empty. He would drink it as fast as he could and then throw his packet on the ground. It's Uncle Eric's fault for teaching my kid how to litter haha! It was hilarious!!!
When we went to the beach in June, Jack wanted NOTHING to do with the sand and this time he was all about it. He threw sand everywhere and was COVERED in it. He was eating sandy crackers and everything. He was a hot mess, but he was so cute.
I packed a bunch of Clara's sand toys and some how Jesse's hat from Toy Story ended up in the toys. That's the one toy she continued to play with.
Here's Jack wondering around holding his Ritz Cracker.
.We headed to Avila to check out the Sea Lions. That pier stinks so bad but Clara had a blast.
Later that night when I finally got the kids to sleep we seen some of our friends Rocio & Wendall drive by, we had no idea they were there. They ended up coming over to our camp and hanging out till midnight. I haven't laughed that hard in so long. It was a BLAST!!! I'm so glad we went, we made some great memories and had a lot of fun!
